Two Busy Weekends!
A couple weekends ago we traveled to Waukon for my brother-in-law Matt's sister's wedding. We had a fun time.
Last weekend we went Lake Lotawana in Missouri. My great Aunt and Uncle renewed their wedding vows. We had a blast with the family. We spend the day swimming, boating, eating, jumping off the high dock, and relaxing.
I put more recent pictures on this link:
Have a good week!

7 Random Things About Me
Marcie tagged me in an email, if that's allowed. So I'll do this.... if I can think of 7 things.
1. I don't eat or drink the ends of things. I never have been able to. It is so gross to me. Like a banana for example-I will take both ends off before I eat it. And anything I drink- it seems to be so gross at the end. The drink is all warm and probably has backwash in it.
2. I have prayed for my husband, Amos, way before I met him. When I was an immature teenager dreaming of my prince charming, I made a very detailed, very shallow, very silly list of things I wanted in a husband. Some of them being taller than me, beautiful eyes, lots of siblings, etc. Then when I was older and a bit more mature, I made a top 5 list that I would be praying for more specifically. Some of them being his Godly character, good personality, etc. Amos honestly hit everything on my shallow list and my more mature list. It was so evident he was the one I had prayed for for so many years. I love that man!
3. I have hair-o-phobia. It's not really a diagnosis, but I really hate hair not on the head. It makes me sick! All my friends know how it upsets me (jokingly of course) to throw their hair on my floor. I've gotten used to it from them, but it still grosses me out.
4. I was a nanny in New Mexico for a year-and-a-half. It was a very difficult time for me, but I am thankful the Lord worked it all out for His good! I am so thankful I had the chance to learn to take care of a home and be a single parent. I would never do it again, but am thankful for the chance to learn.
5. I am planning on making a cookbook, someday. I had a period of time when I was able to print off a ton of recipes and organize them in books. Now I am putting them on my laptop in different categories with a few pictures. I rate the recipes after I make them so I will know what to do with them next time. It might take several years to do this, but it's a fun hobby I have. I also wouldn't mind going to culinary school, someday. :)
6. I am an extremely organized person. Sadly, with us fixing up a house that will take several years, things won't be organized for a while. I am usually very organized in all areas. I would love to have a job of organizing people's homes. Nothing can get that much gratification that quickly. I would just need help teaching the people the organizing habits after I leave the job.
7. I am really into natural births. When I was a nanny in New Mexico, they were very natural people and their daughter was born at home. The Mom really taught me some things about babies and the whole natural delivery. She's not the only reason I so strongly desire natural births, but the first to open my eyes. I would never put anyone down for their own choices for their deliveries, but my desire is to do what is best for my baby and me. We'll see though- I can't say I have ever been in that position before! :)
I will tag Liz Monroe, Katy Strohm, Dani, Ruthann, Kari, Jenica, Ashley, Kaci, Sarah- Is that too much? I guess you don't have to do it if you don't want to! :)

Parkersburg Tornado
On our way to Waukon, we stopped by Parkersburg to see the town after the tornado. I was speechless. I don't believe you can fully understand the effects until you see it in person. It was horrific!
The main drag of town was completely gone. We went through some other parts of town and they were not affected as much. People were still looking through their old homes to see if they could find anything special to the them.

It was hard to hold back the tears for these families. I can't imagine what it would feel like to lose it all. This world is not our home!

Poor Baby

On our way back from Waukon, we saw this adorable deer on the side of the road. The ditches were full up to the road with water, so I'm assuming his mother was made to leave her home. Poor baby. We turned our car around along with another guy. The baby was shivering and was too young to walk. The guy picked him up after petting him and put him in his truck. The sweet deer cuddled up to the heater right away. So precious!

Oh Dewayne!

My nephew DeWayne Johnson was very bad today. My sister and brother-in-law were enjoying a lunch with some friends. A lady came up to them and asked them if they had a green Honda. They said yes. Then she asked if they had a black lab. They said yes.
She told him DeWayne took a joy ride and their car was in the ditch. How funny is that? I guess he had taken off the break and did something with the gears. What a funny story.
The awesome thing is he drove past several gas tanks, cars, and people and didn't hurt a thing. What a miracle, a funny miracle!

My parent's new house!
My parent's got a new job in DeWitt, Iowa. I am showing off some pictures to their family and friends who want to see their new place. The Lord was good to them! I am super excited to see what God has in store for their new life!
The very modern, updated living room
The cute dining room with opening to the living room
Dad's new garden
Please be in prayer
Please be in prayer for my new cousin. My aunt Stephanie had twin boys last week. Hunter Thomas was about 5 pounds and is doing well. His identical brother, Jack Sawyer weighed a little less and is having serious problems. Today he was going to have open heart surgery, but was not stable enough to have the surgery. Please pray he can be stabilized enough so he can have surgery and go home!
Thanks for your prayers dear friends.
