There is a heartbeat!

Amos and I had the best day yesterday because we got to hear our sweet baby's heartbeat. After a difficult first appointment (not too difficult, but I had to do a lot of things I don't like to do that aren't very comfortable), it was so awesome to hear our baby's heart.

I had been nervous for weeks now that for some reason we wouldn't be able to hear the heartbeat. It was a growing area for my faith, but of course God was good! I kind of wanted to take pictures or something so I could remember the first time, but it happened so quickly and I wasn't dressed too modestly. :) She was listening for the hearbeat and couldn't find it right away. After she found mine she kept looking and finally heard it. She turned it up so Amos could hear it. What an amazing, awesome thing to hear. I wish I could of listened for more time, but was so thankful to be able to hear that. I'm still floating.....

So that was fun. I'm beginning to show more I think... not that I should be yet.... but it's just happening and that's okay. Bring it on, stretch marks and all.

I have another appointment next month when I can meet another midwife. I don't get to choose which of the four midwives they have. Whoever is on call that night or day will be the lucky one. The appointment after that will be our first sonogram. We won't be finding out what it is but at least we can see it. So exciting.

Until next time....

Business Card Holder

Weird thing happened this morning.....

I was sitting at my desk and this old guy came up and asked if he could have my business card holder. I of course thought he was joking because I have seen him before and most old guys joke around with me for some reason. So he quickly grabbed the holder and left my cards just sitting on my desk. I'm thinking, "Okay, it's not really that funny, you can put it back now." He kept walking away. "Oh my, he is serious!?!?!" So I looked at my friend Suzy and was kind of confused about what happened. My manager saw us laughing and asked the man if he stole my holder or if I gave it to him. It was funny. I was a bit sad that my holder was gone, but I could survive. He came back a few minutes later and kind of threw it back to me and cursed out my manager who accused him of stealing. Then he walked away. Kind of awkward. He walked up to me a couple more times and said the exact same thing. I was happy to have my card holder back. He went up to another salesman and asked for his card holder... I think he was trying to get a free Christmas gift for someone. Thankfully we had a big stack of phonebooks and he wanted one of those and we happily gave it to him. My salesman who was working with him said this was completely out of character for him. His wife even said that something isn't right... so I hope he's okay and I'm happy to have my desk complete.

Tomorrow Amos and I get to go to our first midwife appointment. I am so excited. I really hope we can hear the heartbeat. I think that will really make it real for both of us. I'm a bit nervous...not sure why. I keep praying for peace and am reminded to completly trust in the Lord for the health and safety of our sweet baby. I'm excited for tomorrow.

Good Recipe

Hello All!!
It has been a while since I have posted anything. Not much has been going on.... nothing different than work, house, harvest season, and sleep.

I can't seem to get enough sleep these days. I am happily growing a baby inside me still (this week it is the size of a prune:) I am feeling pretty icky most of the day but it's worth it and I can't complain about it too much. I am about 10 weeks this week, so only a few more weeks until I am out of my first trimester. Crazy. I have been reading that in these next few weeks our baby will just grow so much. I can't wait. I am feeling a bit bigger, but probably not showing too much to the outside world. I'm looking forward to showing a bit more. Someday soon!

I had some sweet girls over this weekend. It is always fun to host. It's a lot of work but worth the sweet fellowship. It's not every day I get to use my china! Here is the lasagna recipe I made which I thought was good. It's very rich but had a lot of flavor.

Chicken and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

INGREDIENTS:
1 (8 ounce) package lasagna noodles
3 cups heavy cream
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (10.76 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 large onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, sliced
5 mushrooms, diced
1 roasted chicken, shredded ( I bought one already done from the store)
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 bunch fresh spinach, rinsed ( I cooked before to get rid of extra moisture)
3 cups shredded mozzarella
cheese

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente. Drain, and rinse with cold water.
2. In a saucepan over low heat, mix together heavy cream, cream of mushroom soup, Parmesan cheese, and butter. Simmer, stirring frequently, until well blended.
3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir the onion in olive oil until tender, then add garlic and mushrooms. Mix in the chicken, and cook until heated through. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Lightly coat the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish with enough of the cream sauce mixture to coat. Layer with 1/3 of the lasagna noodles, 1/2 cup ricotta, 1/2 of the spinach, 1/2 the chicken mixture, and 1 cup mozzarella. Top with 1/2 the cream sauce mixture, and repeat the layers. Place the remaining noodles on top, and spread with remaining sauce.
5. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until brown and bubbly. Top with the remaining mozzarella, and continue baking until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
