This has been a long week...
Please help me! I need some parenting advice. I have a two-year old... and it's near terrible! :)
No, my Adam is still sweet and lovable and so smart and funny, but this week he has been testing me... a lot! :)
The Lord is always humbling me. I am being stretched and excited to grow as a parent.
Do any of my blog readers have any good parenting books you would recommend I read?
I know this will pass, but I want to be the best parent I can be. I want my children to respect us as parents and most importantly obey and respect the Lord.
I love being a parent....it's the best thing ever. I just need to go to bed and start a new day. :)
We have been busy, very busy. Amos turned 30 last weekend. We celebrated all weekend long.
I will post pictures soon. I want to go to bed. :)
Also, if you would, please pray I find another job to help provide for our family. I will be pretty much unemployed at the end of the month. Amos and I are kind of stressed out about it, but know it will work out...just waiting to see how it will end up.
More to come soon.

Rach,
I am right there with you on the toddler front. UGH! One second they are doing great, the other they are little nightmares! :-) Let me know if you get any good advice or book recommendations!
Loving parenthood, but needing to keep my hair! :-)

Here are two to add to your Christmas list. Give Them Grace by Elyse Fitzpatrick and her daughter. It is WONDERFUL because not only does it focus on the gospel, it gives examples of how you bring the gospel into our training of our children. The other is a little more lighthearted, but it gives great perspective. It is called, Loving the Little Years.
Shepherding a Child's Heart by Ted Tripp is good, we've done that as a class twice at church. Once when Eli was just a baby and then again a couple of summers ago. He describes discipline as a rescue mission ultimately leading your child to Christ. Lots of good scripture. Another that I have just started is called Grace-Based Parenting. I'm just barely in it so I don't have a feel for it. Of course, Dobson's Bringing Up Boys is good because let's face yet it, boys are different than girls. Mommies with multiple sons need a support group! I'll let you know if I think of others. I am not currently reading the Dobson or Tripp books, so you are welcome to borrow them if you'd like.
I have had to ask Eli's forgiveness on more than one occasion. Just remember that His mercies are new every morning. Good thing, too. Being a parent is a little like the old Marines slogan - the toughest job you'll ever love:)
Oh girl, hang in there. it's good to vent :)
i think part of it is the weather, it's hard not being able to go outside and play/go for walks/run around at the park - just plain get out of the house!!
also, he's a two year old little BOY. restless, testing boundries, learning what's okay and what's not. at 3, i'd say Beckett's STILL in that stage...
Don't Make Me Count to Three by Ginger Plowman came highly reccommended by another Christian mom, although I haven't read it yet.
A Mother's Heart by Jean Fleming is lovely. A good, encouraging book about what it means to be a godly mother.
And I just recently read Raising Boys by Steve Biddulph, which is not neccessarily a parenting book, but helps mom understand why the heck boys do the things they do, therefore helping improve their relationship with them.
((HUGS!!))
